Volunteering with FOCAS is a fun and rewarding experience. Your kindness will be repaid with purrs, tail wags and the knowledge that just a few hours of your time has made a world of difference in the life of an animal. You’ll meet new people who share your passion for animals and may even make some new friends – both human and canine or feline!
FOCAS does not have its own facility but instead supports the adoptions of the cats and dogs from the three Department of Animal Services’ shelters. FOCAS is to the shelters like a PTA is to a school – we support the efforts of the shelters, but have our own programs to do this.
Volunteers are a crucial part of these programs, performing a wide variety of important functions. Many volunteers choose to be "hands-on" with the animals by volunteering at one of our catteries or mobile adoption events or as a foster parent of a pet that needs a little extra TLC. Those who prefer a less physical role may wish to become involved with writing our newsletter, InFOCAS, or planning fundraisers.
Whatever your interests and abilities, FOCAS can use your help. The number of animals we can help is only limited by the number of hands we have to help them – so volunteer today!
Foster Parents Needed
FOCAS needs dedicated, loving Foster Parents to care for and prepare shelter animals for adoption. You could make the critical difference for a wonderful homeless dog or cat.
Got medical experience?
Volunteers are needed at our FOCAS-AMC House to help injured and ill cats and dogs. This is a great way to put your experience into practice while helping animals in need.
Organize Events
Help plan, organize, and participate with Special Events and Fund Raisers. Two big events per year. Committee meets once a month during the week.
